David Granville Jones

September 8, 1938 - August 12, 2026

David Granville Jones, aged 87, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, surrounded by his four children. He was preceded in death by his wife and companion of 64 years, Frances Ann Jones. He is survived by his children Melanie, Elgin (Terri), Kyle (Roxie), and Tamara (Troy), grandchildren Coltyn (Valerie), Reyna, & Parker. He is also survived by his sister, Julia (Johnny Robinson) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

As a lifetime Fairview resident, our daddy was a beloved, larger-than-life character known for his incredible generosity, unflagging optimism, boundless sense of humor, and tireless storytelling. He was many things to the many people in his life, be it a friend, a confidante, or frequently, a surrogate father/grandfather. He was always willing to lend an ear or helping hand to all who knew him.

David was by trade an accomplished union pipefitter/steamfitter who worked on many iconic projects in Nashville and middle Tennessee. Later on, he would join the workforce at the Ford Glass Plant in Nashville from which he retired in 2000. That decision to take early retirement allowed him to do what he loved best - take care of his family, friends, neighbors and the Fairview community. His countless unheralded charitable deeds for others were often only known to those on the receiving end.

David had many joys – his morning walks (while picking up litter), love of animals and nature, cooking, welding, mowing – but entertaining others was his calling card, as evidenced by the numerous parties, reunions, and cabin gatherings he and Ann hosted over the years.

David was always an advocate for those less fortunate and taught us to love and be kind to all, and to appreciate the beauty of the world around us. The universe was a little brighter with David in it, and he is, and always will be, terribly missed.
